The News-Ledger has obtained the results of a “DUI checkpoint” staged by the West Sacramento Police Department on Saturday, Aug. 27, as part of a statewide crackdown on drunk drivers through the Labor Day holiday travel period.
The checkpoint ran from 7:30 p.m. to midnight on the 3200-block of Jefferson Boulevard in Southport, reports Lieutenant Tod Sockman of the W.S.P.D.
Although there were no drunk driving arrests, six people were cited for unlicensed driving.
The police department announced in advance that there would be a DUI checkpoint that night somewhere in the city, but did not announce its location. The policy is meant to deter drinking and driving. Try the NEWS-LEDGER, FREE!!
