documents It’s just a sampling of the reports, calls for service and arrests
made by the West Sacramento Police Department during the past week. The
information includes citizen complaints and other statements that have not
substantiated or verified by an investigation or a courtroom.
March 9, 3:04 a.m. A woman at a mobilehome on Sacramento Avenue was reported to have
been assaulted by a nephew. When she complained about music being played too
loud, he pushed her down and turned it back up again.
March 9, 3:27 a.m. A man at an apartment on the 2400-block of
West Capitol said a neighboring resident was yelling obscenities through the
floor at the man’s wife.
March 9, 7:21 a.m. An employee reported to work at a Stillwater Road
business and found it had been burglarized. A list of stolen property was still
being compiled, but so far, losses exceeded $15,000.
March 9, 8:09 a.m. A witness said the gate box at a 7th
Street apartment complex was damaged. Wire was ripped out and panel boxes were
pulled out, leaving the gate stuck open.
March 9, 3:19 p.m. An outside law enforcement agency reported it
would be conducting an undercover drug buy “sting” behind buildings at the
2300-block of West Capitol Avenue
shortly. They requested that local police avoid the location if possible.
March 9, 3:34 p.m. A witness reported that a Fort Thunderbird
just went into a telephone pole, putting telephone lines down on the road and
leaving a front bumper in the street. A man just approached the witness
claiming the car had been stolen, but he had chased it and got it back.
March 9, 3:58 p.m. A woman called from a motel on the 800-block
of West Capitol, reporting that her methamphetamine and cocaine had been stolen
and she was out $20,000. The woman “was distracted and kept calling for her
puppy during the call.”
March 9, 4:22 p.m. A supermarket on the 1200-block of West
Capitol reported that it had detained a 19-year old woman for shoplifting, and
the woman was now suffering a seizure. An ambulance was called.
March 9, 4:34 p.m. Southport Elementary School reported that a
14-year old boy had been accused of touching or slapping female students in
inappropriate areas. Five girls had come forward with accusations.
March 9, 11:25 p.m. A neighbor complained about noise at a William Street
home, where residents had some wood burning in a pit and were chanting in
memory of a recently-deceased family member. The caller asked for police to
visit and see if the fire department was needed.
March 10, 12:29 a.m. A Southport
man reported that his 34-year old girlfriend was threatening suicide. The woman
had threatened to cut her wrists in the past.
March 10, 3:28 p.m. A man flagged down police from outside a
motel on the 1900-block of West
Capitol Avenue. He said he had engaged in a
“transaction” with a woman there, and the woman stole some of his property.
March 10, 3:55 p.m. A
Spoonbill Road resident came to the police department
to report someone had stolen a delivery package from the front porch.
March 10, 5:16 p.m. A 51-year old Bay Area man struggled but was
now detained for shoplifting at a supermarket on the 1600-block of West
Capitol. The man had tried to take vitamins, garlic tablets and grooming
trimmers worth about $44. He had also tried to cash a fraudulent check at the
store’s bank branch.
March 10, 5:18 p.m. A business on 15th Street reported that five
males were in a verbal dispute in the parking lot.
March 10, 11:56 p.m. A Southport
man said his girlfriend had just thrown a chair through the front window of the
residence. The woman was now gone.
March 10, 4:39 a.m. An officer contacted a woman at 3rd
and West Capitol, and identified her. The woman had been yelling for help, and
said she did not know who she was, where she was, or where she lived. She asked
for a doctor. An ambulance took her (and most of her belongings) to a Sacramento hospital for a
mental and physical evaluation, but she had to leave her bike behind.
March 11, 7:39 a.m. Police confirmed that a 32-year old sex crime
registrant had been living at a Palomar
Avenue address without reporting it as required.
The man had been attending a West Sacramento
trade school. He was gone when they checked the house.
March 11, 8:35 a.m. Police assisted a parole officer in searching
for a 31-year old male “parolee at large” at a Madrone Avenue apartment. They found him
and booked and jailed him.
March 11, 7:17 a.m. A witness said there was ongoing danger from
cars turning right and Jefferson and Linden
and almost hitting pedestrians in the crosswalk. A near-accident had just
happened again involving a green Honda. Extra patrols were requested.
March 11, 8:27 a.m. A witness reported that about six male
juveniles in dark clothing had been along the tracks near Jefferson
and 15th, videotaping each other making gang signs.
March 11, 9:31 a.m. A 1999 Chevy
Suburban was repossessed from Todhunter
Avenue.
March 11, 10:50 a.m. A fast-food restaurant on Jefferson Blvd. near Southport Parkway said there was a man of
about 60 years old outside “stumbling around the parking lot and falling in
front of vehicles.”
March 11, 11:10 a.m. A 28-year old man from Waterford Drive reported purchasing a bike
from what he thought was a famous Internet auction site, and wiring the seller
$1,700. But the site turned out to be fake and no bicycle was delivered.
Communications with the seller had been by email. The man had information on
the suspect from Texas.
March 11, 2:29 p.m. A witness said there had been a woman with
fanny pack looking at houses on Apache
Street through binoculars. She met with a man who
came from the bushes. She went toward the Southport Town
Center and he went toward
Muscovy Drive.
March 11, 2:52 p.m. A convalescent home on Oakmont Way said a client’s bank account
was overdrawn because someone had withdrawn $400 from it the prior day.
March 11, 3:42 p.m. A thief took tools from a Glide Avenue location and left in a Dodge
truck – but the caller had detained the suspect’s friend at the scene.
March 11, 4 p.m. A man reported that someone had entered a
locked and repossessed house on Gooseberry Lane sometime after March 4 and
stolen a Springfield 9 mm semi-automatic pistol. The victim was a state
trooper.
March 11, 5:48 p.m. A man on Solano Street reported that a neighbor
had stolen a cassette.
March 11, 6:01 p.m. A man reported a burglary on Benton Street. Gone
were a snub-nose Smith & Wesson .38 caliber pistol, a black 9 mm
semi-automatic handgun and a 46-inch LCD television.
March 11, 5:30 p.m. A 56-year old clerk working at a market on
the 2200-block of West Capitol
Avenue sold cigarettes to an underage “decoy” in a
tobacco sting operation. The man was arrested and issued a notice to appear in
court.
March 11, 10:15 p.m. An officer saw a 57-year old man in a Chevy
fail to stop for a stop sign at Southport
Parkway and Oakland Bay Road. The officer conducted a
vehicle stop and saw signs of intoxication. The driver failed a field sobriety
test and was arrested.
March 11, 11:26 p.m. An officer
contacted a 41-year old male transient seen jaywalking on the 1900-block of
West Capitol. A records check showed he was a wanted “parolee at large,” and
the subject was arrested.
March 12, 8:42 a.m. A
Riverpoint Circle store reported detaining a
shoplifter – but two people with the suspect were now at the front door, in a
verbal argument with security personnel.
Feb. 27, 2 p.m. A 20-year old Sacramento woman was arrested for trying to
shoplift $48 worth of clothes from a Riverpoint
Court retail store.
March 11, 11:26 p.m. An officer
contacted a 41-year old male transient seen jaywalking on the 1900-block of
West Capitol. A records check showed he was a wanted “parolee at large,” and
the subject was arrested.
March 12, 8:42 a.m. A
Riverpoint Circle store reported detaining a
shoplifter – but two people with the suspect were now at the front door, in a
verbal argument with security personnel.
March 12, 7:51 a.m. A locked car was found burglarized at an Evergreen Avenue
storage center. Gone was a Medicaid check.
March 12, 11:54 a.m. An Aylesbury Court
home reported the theft of a $5,000 engagement ring and other jewelry. The
suspect was the friend of a neighbor. The neighbor had gone to Sacramento to contact the suspect and bring
him back.
March 12, 2:06 p.m. A Honda Civic and a BMW collided in a parking
lot at Town Center Plaza.
There were no injuries.
March 12, 3:02 p.m. A parent on Manchester Street reported that a
daughter had stolen a library card, checked out some books, and failed to
return them. Now, the library was demanding payment for the books from the
parent.
March 12, 5:09 p.m. A citizen said
there was a man sitting in a Ford van with Georgia plates, in the parking lot
of a fast food restaurant on Riverpoint
Circle. The man was claiming he was “trying to
recruit models for magazines.” He was traveling with an 8-year old.
March 12, 6:14 p.m. The rear plate was reported stolen from a
“Christmas Basket” truck on Rockrose
Road.
March 12, 1:27 a.m. An officer stopped a Pontiac Grand Am at West
Capitol and Garden Street.
The 20-year old Sacramento
man driving the car then grabbed the officer’s shirt. The officer believed he
was under the influence, and smelled marijuana. Marijuana was found in the car
and the vehicle was towed after the subject was arrested.
March 12, 4 p.m. A loss prevention officer at a Riverpoint Court
store saw a 36-year old North Highlands woman
hide some items in her purse and try to exit. She was detained, arrested, and
given a notice to appear in court. She had tried to shoplift some makeup, nail
polish, a book and other items worth $87.
