The News-Ledger is dedicated to serving the community of West Sacramento, California's 444th city. The newspaper is published every Wednesday and delivered to subscribers by mail. The News-Ledger puts the spotlight on local people, politics, crime, business and development in this city.
Julius Feher (who started his first West Sacramento newspaper as a teenager!) and Michael P. Garten founded the News-Ledger in 1964. Mr. Feher edited the paper until his death in 1988; Mr. Garten continued publishing the paper until his own death in 2005. The newspaper is now published by the News-Ledger LLC, operated by Steve Marschke and Daryl Fisher. Both Mr. Fisher and Mr. Marschke have long ties to the News-Ledger. The News-Ledger remains the last locally owned, independent newspaper in the County of Yolo.
Steve Marschke has served as editor of the News-Ledger since 1991, following two years as a reporter for the newspaper.
Daryl Fisher is Features Editor. Since 1991, he has authored a popular and award-winning News-Ledger column called "My Back Pages."
News-Ledger contributors include sportswriter Richard Novoa.
Circulation assistance comes from Darrell Atkinson and Helen Merkley.
