The News-Ledger is a community newspaper for the City of West Sacramento. It includes the neighborhoods of West Sacramento, Bryte, Broderick and Southport, all of which joined together as a city in 1987. The city is not part of Sacramento, and is actually in a different county (Yolo County) than its larger neighbor on the other side of the Sacramento River. West Sacramento includes ZIP codes 95691 and 95605.
Most of our subscribers live or work in West Sacramento, and most of our news is West Sacramento news.

How do I submit a local "news" or "calendar" item?
The News-Ledger welcomes local news items, letters to the editor on local topics, local calendar items and the like. Please remember that "local" for us generally means within the city of West Sacramento. Items pertaining to Sacramento and other areas generally won't make it into our pages. We do occasionally print a calendar of Sacramento area non-profit public events.
Also, notices of business-related events are generally not given space in our news content -- please consider placing an ad instead.
You may leave news and opinion submissions at our office or send them to: News-Ledger, PO Box 463, West Sacramento CA 95691. Please make sure you include your name, address and phone number. Deadline is Friday. Send them early for best chance of publication.
Please don't give us anything irreplacable, like a priceless family photo! We attempt to hold onto such things for a reasonable amount of time until you pick them up, but we cannot guarantee their return.

What are your ad rates?
A "classified ad" such as a home for sale or a help wanted ad costs $3.50 to run one time, containing up to 25 words. This is the "local" rate -- inexpensive, as a service to anyone who gives us their ad in writing along with check or cash payment.
A "display ad" is based on our column inch rates of $5.75 per inch. We offer a special on "business card" ads for $39 per month, with a six-month commitment..
See below on "How do I place. . .?" for more information.

How do I place a classified ad?
We keep our classified ad rates at a bargain price for the convenience of our subscribers. To keep these prices low, we ask that you pre-pay for your ad so we can skip the billing process.
A "classified ad" such as a "for sale" item costs only $3.50 to run one time (one week) or $12 if you commit to four weeks. You are allowed up to 25 words at this price. Extra words, if needed, are 10 cents each per publication date. You may drop your ad off at our office (leave it in the mail slot after hours). Or send the ad and payment, with your name and phone number, to us at: News-Ledger, PO Box 463, West Sacramento CA 95691.
Deadline is Monday for Wednesday's paper.
The News-Ledger won't accept misleading ads such as "help wanted" ads that do not offer real job opportunities. If you have to ask whether your ad is misleading, then you've probably already answered your own question!

How do I place a display ad?
The best way is to show us a copy of what you have in mind or call us at (916) 371-8030 to get started.
Display ads are $5.75 per "column inch" An ad two columns wide is about 3 3/4" wide, so, for example, an ad about 3 3/4" wide by 4" tall costs $46 to run once. We do have a special for business cards, priced at $39 per month. For other ads (not this special), a discount may be available if you run the same ad at least three times.
You may mail or drop off an outline of what you have in mind for your ad and leave us your phone number and we'll call to talk about it. See "Map and Directions" for address information.
We often do basic graphics work at no additional charge.
Deadline for display ads is the prior Friday -- more time is needed if you have special needs such as full color. Ads must be prepaid unless other arrangements are made. We are not yet set up to take payment by credit card.
